2022 Ecycle Solutions Murtoa Cup

Located at the southern edge of town, the Murtoa Race Course has good facilities and lovely, treed surrounds, with Lake Marma nearby. Murtoa retains the major event of the Murtoa Cup held in early October each year.
The Murtoa Racing Club staged its first race meeting on a Thursday in February 1879, declaring a public holiday so the whole town could go to the races and enjoy the day out. As in many Victorian country towns, this tradition continued for the best part of 120 years until recently, when the Murtoa Cup, which was originally the Murtoa Handicap, was moved to a Saturday. Thoroughbred racing has always been an integral part of the town life in Murtoa, the Murtoa Racecourse is situated near Lake Marma and the track and facilities are beautifully maintained by a committee of volunteers who are passionate about racing and strive to continue to provide a bright future of racing in Murtoa and the Wimmera. Racing twice a year the Murtoa Racing Club hosts full TAB meetings, the Murtoa Cup kicks off the Country Cup Race Meetings in the region and will be held on Saturday 2nd October 2021. The second of Murtoa’s race meetings for the 2021-22 racing season will be held in Winter in July 2022. Murtoa boasts an all-weather race track that races well in the Summer & Winter months. Maybe it’s your end of season football or netball trip? Or maybe it’s your birthday? Or a bucks or hens party? Or perhaps you are in town for Murtoa’s Big Weekend? Whatever your celebration, a day at the Murtoa Races should be on your calendar this year and will not disappoint.
