History:
1874 Murtoa congregation was organized by Pastor Schoknecht on Pentecost Monday.
1875 June 3 dedication is reported.
The first services were held in the house of Bro. E. Habel.
Built: 1965 Was built of weatherboard, with vestry, and capable of accommodating about 250 people.
1916 April 6 it was burnt to the ground.
1923 April 6 work began on the new church, of reinforced concrete
1923 September 9th dedicated to the service of God
1965 the current church was built

1875 Oct 4 One of the first services was held, Father P Moore took Mass
1880 construction of the first church.
1881 July 10 formal opening of the building occurred, Dean Moore from Ballarat officiated
1881 July 27 First Baptism
1882 Jan 1 First Wedding (Mr John Gleeson and Margaret Carmody )
1886 St Mary's was confirmed as the "Catholic church of Murtoa".
1890
1920 The nave was extended
1950 The porch was extended
1969 A new Alter
